I promise I will get started on these sports posts soon. However, all this Spring Break madness has got me riled up.
For those who are unaware, our college's s.b. is coming up at the end of this week, and lots of people are excited. There is a problem with this though: everyone always talks about how they "need break to come" or can't wait until this week is over. This is ridiculous. Granted, s.b. is pretty neat, but why can't this week be enjoyed. When you watch a movie, you don't sit through it thinking, "gee, i can't wait until that movie coming out soon is released". NO. You enjoy what is in front of ya. This few days will only happen once in your lifetime, don't treat them like they don't matter. Maybe you should consider the opportunity of going to college as a privilege rather than a prison. I could think of so many people that would literally do ANYTHING to go to college five days a week. And how have we treated just another week in our boring lives? "uggggggggh, i can't wait to go home, i hate school, my life sucks here". are you kidding me?!?!!? RELAX. I'm just as excited to go home as the rest of you guys, but I do realize that being in school isn't the worst thing in the world.
Nevertheless, I hope you all have a wonderful spring break wherever you choose to celebrate. For me, I will happy enough to go home and see my family. After all, they are the reason I get to go experience college life in the first place.

A hopefully humorous blog that will occasionally touch on some serious, personal matter--but we will get to that when it needs to be discussed.

So this is where it will all begin. Sorry, I'm hoping for big things out of this blogging experience.
A little about me....
I have been writing on and off for as long as I can remember, but never took it seriously. Finally, my conscience spoke up and told me to get a move on. Just so you know, I hope to someday write for ESPN, and if i am lucky enough, be able to cover the NBA. I can't really express how much sports mean to me. I will try to show you my passion for it and other sports in the future posts/articles I write about the various topics in the news, so bear with my first few posts. I need to get my feet wet in this business, so I'm going to reflect on some personal stuff for the first post (note: i rarely like to talk about myself, so when these things come out in typed fashion, I am very serious with what I say). I'll probably do personal stuff like this once a month or so, but for now we'll go with it.
Let me first off talk about how awesome parents are. I can't speak for all of us, but I have and will never have the experience of pushing a human baby through my privates (glamorous description, i know). I can not imagine how amazing that process is when it is all said and done. Throughout your life, these parents will normally do just about anything to make your childhood years enjoyable. I was reminded of this when I told my dad I was going to start this blog. He responded to me asking him if my mom and him would read it by simply saying, "for you my son, I'd do just about anything". I'm not the most overly emotional guy, but these things hit me hard. I can't thank my parents enough for all they've done. I very much appreciate it. Let that be known.
Another thing that's been on my mind is the negativity we all go through each and every single friggin day. To me, there are three things you can do when you're feeling like you're not on your A game: you can simply ignore it, you can mire in your sorrows, or you can swallow it and tell yourself to get off the ground and go make something of it. Being blessed with a sense of humor has gotten me through a lot. But what happens when you don't have anything to laugh off? It is much easier to be sad then to work to be happy. But why not be happy? What is wrong with being happy? Too many times in these situations we like to focus on the one bad thing that will happen over the course of a day rather than the ten good things that we've gone through. To those people that feel like they're being short-changed on their life, YOU HAVE SO MUCH to be proud/thankful/happy/grateful for. Try this for a day and keep progressing if you'd like: make a list of what happened in the day. When you're done with your list, you may categorize each event as a good or a bad one; that part is up to you. However, with everything on your "bad" list, write underneath it something good you can take from it. These events don't have to be the demise of you, you just got to keep the right frame of mind. These things will pass over, it just takes a little work.
To say it'll be easy is a flat out lie. I struggle with it everyday. But when you take the time to realize what you have in front of you, it is hard to not be smiling. Allow me to demonstrate: my apartment was insulted on it's cleanliness, i questioned whether I was smart like my roommates, and I worried that I will never be relatively in shape. However, I am proud of my apartment (people's opinions don't matter; they're not perfect either), i am smart enough to realize that I do things differently than most people, and I've been eating really well for the past two weeks; all it took was a little discipline. I am only twenty years old, I have so much more ahead of me; there is no need to cut my ambitions short because of a few hiccups here and there. Here is the thing: you can only be you. It's cliche and what not, but think about it. Who honestly gives a rat's ass what people think of you? They are not you, nor will they EVER be you. Nobody will ever be able to tell me that I can't work for ESPN, because they can not control what I do. So don't let me or anyone else stop you from what you would like to do. You deserve better.
So there is my rant on personal happenings. From here on out, sports, movies, and pop culture will be discussed here. Hope you enjoyed a little insight into me, and let's hope you keep reading.
Here is a funny lil' picture for you readers. Enjoy!
